Causes and solutions of water pump failure

1. Phenomenon: The water pump does not absorb water, and the pointers of the pressure and vacuum gauges are beating violently.


Possible reasons: Not enough water injected into the water pump; water pipes and instruments are leaking.


Treatment method: Fill the water pump with water and tighten it to block the air leakage.


2. Phenomenon: The water pump does not absorb water, and the vacuum gauge indicates a high vacuum.


Possible reasons: The bottom valve is not opened or blocked, and the resistance of the suction pipe is too great.Water absorption height is too high


Solution: Correct or replace the bottom valve. Clean or replace the suction pipe. Reduce water absorption height.


3. Phenomenon: Looking at the pressure gauge, there is pressure at the outlet of the water pump but the water pump still does not come out.


Possible reasons: The resistance of the water outlet pipe is too large, the rotation direction is wrong, the impeller is blocked, and the water pump speed is not enough.


Solution: Check or shorten the water pipe, check the motor and remove the water pipe joint. Cleaning the impeller increases the speed of the water pump shaft.


4. Phenomenon: The flow rate is lower than expected.


Possible reasons: The water pump is clogged, the sealing ring is too worn, and the speed is insufficient.


Treatment method: Clean the water pump and pipes, replace the sealing ring and increase the speed of the water pump shaft.


5. Phenomenon: The water pump consumes too much power.


Possible reasons: the packing gland is too tight, the packing heating impeller is worn, and the water supply of the water pump increases.


Solution: Loosen the packing cap or take out the packing and square it, replace the impeller, and increase the resistance of the outlet pipe to reduce the flow rate.


6. Phenomenon: The sound inside the water pump is abnormal and the water pump does not supply water.


Possible reasons: The flow rate is too large, the resistance in the suction pipe is too large, the suction height is too high, and there is air infiltration at the suction point. The temperature of the liquid being sucked is too high.


Solution: Increase the resistance in the outlet pipe. To reduce the flow rate, check the water suction pipe, check the bottom valve, reduce the water suction height, tighten and block the air leakage, and reduce the liquid temperature.


7. Phenomenon: The water pump vibrates.


Possible reasons: The pump shaft and the motor shaft are not on the same center line or the pump shaft is tilted.


Solution: Align the center lines of the water pump and motor.


8. Phenomenon: Bearing overheating.


Possible reasons: There is no oil, and the water pump shaft and the motor shaft are not on the same center line.


Treatment method: add oil, align the shaft center, check and clean the bearing body.


9. Phenomenon: The balance water is interrupted, the balance chamber generates heat, and the electric power increases.


Possible reasons: The water pump is operating at large flow and low head, and the balance plate and balance ring are grinding.


Treatment method: Close the outlet gate valve to operate under the designed working conditions, and disassemble the balance plate for maintenance.
